Region of Wielkopolska is know as a place where Polish state has born. Gniezno is the first capital of Poland,the historical site of the personal baptism of Mieszko I is in Ostrow Lednicki, Kalisz is one of the oldest cities in Poland. However, there is numerous other attractions in Wielkopolska. Picturesque landscape of vast flat areas, lakes, wild forests, and among them – castles and palaces, attract many tourists.
The most famous palaces are Rogalin or Kórnik, but there is much more interesting buildings in Wielkopolska. Let's check Gołuchow. This is a small town close to Kalisz. The main attraction is a unique castle. It was erected in the 16th century and rebuilt several times. Today, the castle represents the french Renaissance style. It is located in the heart of a park. It belongs to the National Museum in Poznan. The another interesting building is a hunting lodge (palace) in Antonin. It is a wooden three-storey palace. This place was visited by such famous artist as Fryderyk Chopin. That's why, the International Festival 'Chopin in Autumn Colours' is held here every year. The palace is surrounded by picturesque landscape. In Rydzyna, tourists can admire a beautiful castle which is connected with the city. This is a four-storey residence with four towers built in the end of 17th century in the Baroque style. In the heart of wonderful land of low hills there is located Śmiełów with the Classic style palace. The famous Romantic poet and Polish bard Adam Mickiewicz visited this place two times. Henryk Sienkiewicz and Ignacy Jan Paderewski were also guests of that palace. Today, the building houses the Museum of Adam Mickiewicz. In Czerniejewo, there is a palace built in the 18th century in the late-Baroque style and rebuilt in the Neo-Classical style. Today, it is a hotel.
